Some puppies begin life with challenges far greater than they should ever have to face.

Oak was born at the shelter just before the big snowstorm this past February, already facing obstacles that would shape the beginning of his journey.

While his siblings grew stronger, found families, and began their new lives, Oak stayed behind — not because he lacked spirit, but because his little body needed extra help.

From the start, Oak showed signs of nerve damage in both of his back legs.

A devoted foster mom stepped in and committed herself fully to helping him thrive. She took him to chiropractic visits, laser therapy appointments, and even worked with him through water therapy at home — doing everything possible to help him build strength and mobility.

Over time, there was encouraging progress in Oak’s left leg.

But his right leg never improved.

Oak and his foster mom headed to a therapy appointment.

After further evaluation, veterinarians confirmed that the nerve damage in his right leg was permanent. To give Oak the best chance at a healthy and active future, the decision was made to amputate his back right leg and focus on strengthening the side that continues to show promise.

Oak’s surgery went well, and he is now recovering safely with his foster mom.

Even through every challenge, Oak continues to show just how resilient he is.

He is healing, adapting, and proving every day that his future is still bright — and we know one day he will make an incredible companion for the family meant for him.

Providing this level of medical care changes lives for animals like Oak, but we need your help to continue making that possible.

Oak’s surgery and medical care total $500, and every gift helps support his recovery and future.

If you’re able, please consider making a donation toward Oak’s medical fund. Every gift helps him continue healing, growing stronger, and moving closer to the loving home he deserves.

Thanks to supporters like you, we hope Oak’s brave journey leads to adoption and the bright future waiting for him.
